About Freyja Wild
Freyja Wild is a singer, songwriter and composer whose musical path has never followed a straight line. Classically trained, she has wandered through rock, jazz, Celtic folk and the avant-garde, gathering sounds and influences along the way and weaving them into music that is distinctly her own.
At the heart of Freyja’s music is a deep connection to the living world and a belief in the power of music to change the way we feel — and perhaps, in some small way, the world we create together. Her songs explore love, loss, transformation, belonging and our relationship with the Earth, moving from intimate and tender to rhythmic, wild and exuberant.
A powerful and expressive vocalist, Freyja brings that same sense of exploration to the stage, where no two performances are quite alike. Whether singing a quiet ballad or standing behind a frame drum driving an unexpected groove, she is less interested in fitting neatly into a genre than in creating something alive: music that invites people to feel deeply, connect with one another, and leave a little more hopeful than they arrived.
The Music We Make Together
Freyja Wild’s music is brought to life in collaboration with guitarist Phil Van Scotter and bassist Pete Jacobs, two musicians whose musical instincts have become an essential part of the sound.
Phil is an extraordinarily intuitive guitarist, bringing color, atmosphere and an adventurous musical sensibility to the songs. Pete — one of the grooviest bass players Freyja knows — draws on a lifetime of jazz, rock and Middle Eastern music, creating a rhythmic foundation that can move from spacious and subtle to downright irresistible.
Together, the three have developed a musical language that leaves room for spontaneity, deep listening and the unexpected. Depending on the performance, Freyja Wild may also expand to include additional musicians and instrumentation.
